On 2/19/25, Trump decided to take action to strike down New York City’s congestion pricing plan (despite the GOP’s long-stated preference for local control and states’ rights!). He announced his action on Truth Social with a brief message,
“CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING!”
The White House then followed up with a post on X depicting Trump wearing a crown in front of the New York skyline.
It used to be that Presidents did not – ever! – refer to themselves as kings but it appears that the times are changing…
